What’s interesting about it?
Bukreev Peak, 3,010 meters high, is one of the peaks of the Trans-Ili Alatau ridge. The route to the top of this peak is suitable for experienced climbers. But this is an attractive climbing option since the path passes through wooded ridges and beautiful meadows, and you can enjoy an impressive panorama of the Left Talgar Mountains and the Kimasar Gorge from the top. In the winter, skiers and snowboarders, especially freeride lovers, climb Bukreev Peak.
This peak was named in honor of the legendary Kazakh climber Anatoly Bukreev. Until 2007, Bukreev Peak was known as Pioneer Peak. After the climber’s death, it was renamed Bukreev Peak, and two memorial plaques were installed on the top: one with his name and the other with a prayer. You can ring a bell at the top of the peak to honor the memory of the deceased Anatoly Bukreev.
How to get there?
The most popular ways to get there are routes through the Butakovsky Gorge and the Kimasar Gorge. The route's difficulty through the Butakovskoye Gorge is average, and on the way there, you can admire the Cape of Hope rock. The advantage of hiking through the Kimasar Gorge is the opportunity to ride the popular mountain swing. There is a large queue in front of them at any time of the year.
When is the best time to visit?
This mountain route is attractive in any season, but you should follow storm warnings from the Almaty Emergency Situations Department.
