We recommend visiting this place for anyone interested in the era of Kazakhstan's history that preceded the independence. Dinmukhamed Kunaev was an outstanding figure who made a significant contribution to the republic's development.
How did it appear?
This complex consists of a museum and a memorial apartment. The museum was opened for Kunaev’s 90th birthday in 2002, and the apartment for his 100th birthday in 2012. The head of the Kazakh SSR lived in this apartment from 1969-1993.
Museum’s collection
The museum's exhibition is divided into two halls. The first hall covers childhood and student years, as well as the beginning of the working career of Dinmukhamed Kunaev. The second hall shows him as a politician, scientist, and outstanding person. The museum's collection includes about 3,000 exhibits.
Memorial apartment-museum
In the apartment museum, visitors can learn about the everyday life of this outstanding personality from a more personal side. Many souvenirs and valuable gifts show which countries and cities he visited, along with the people he had the opportunity to meet, work, and befriend. One of the treasures of this museum is the complete and authentic interior of the house where he lived. The exhibits allow you to feel the simplicity and modesty of Kunaev as an individual and learn about his activities and hobbies.
How to visit?
You can visit this place on Wednesday and Saturday because this is the only time the memorial apartment is available for visitors. Opening hours: Monday - Saturday from 9 a.m to 6 p.m. Entrance fee to the museum is 400 tenge, plus a visit to the apartment - 800 tenge.
