A. Kasteev Art Museum
Location: District Koktem-3, 22/1.
What’s interesting about it?
It is the largest art museum in the country. The collection includes works by artists from Kazakhstan as well as from Europe and Asia, covering past eras and the present. The number of exhibits exceeds 25 thousand units.
How did it appear?
The museum was created in 1935, and its separate building was built in 1965. A soft light coming through transparent ceilings creates a comfortable atmosphere. Workers maintain optimal temperature and humidity conditions for each hall, which contributes to the preservation of exhibits. The tetrahedral glass pyramid on the roof is especially impressive. It allows natural light to come into the core of the building.
How to visit?
The museum is open daily except Mondays from 10.00 to 18.00. It is better to visit a museum at the same time as a specialized exhibition. So, in addition to the main collection, you can enjoy the unique exhibits that are temporarily placed. The museum’s extensive connections and contacts allow it to regularly organize personal exhibitions of artists from Kazakhstan, along with artists from various countries. The museum actively interacts with private collectors, often organizing exhibitions of art from private collections. In total, more than 60 exhibitions are held every year.
