What’s interesting about it?

The atmosphere of this place is filled with musical rhythms and the spirit of eternal youth brought by Victor Tsoi's music. Known as a symbol of freedom during those times, the legendary Soviet rock musician starred here in the 1988 film "The Needle."

How did it appear?

To mark the 30th anniversary of the film, patrons donated funds to build a monument to Tsoi. Signs with quotes from the musician's songs were installed along the alley.

What's interesting nearby?

The sculpture is located on Tulebaev Street, named in honor of the great Kazakh composer Mukan Tulebaev. It is an ideal place for walking. In the upper part of the street, there is a fountain with a monument to the composer; if you move towards the lower part, you can visit the Dinmukhamed Kunaev Museum, the Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theater named after Abai, and the “Arasan” Bathhouse complex. Viktor Tsoi’s monument is a popular photo shoot location during the day. You can also take good photos at night since it’s illuminated by floodlights.
