Tengrinews.kz — A suspect in the World Business Consulting Ponzi scheme case has been extradited to Kazakhstan. She was detained in Georgia in January 2024, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the Financial Monitoring Agency.
The Astana department of the Financial Monitoring Agency has concluded its investigation into the creation and management of a structural unit of the World Business Consulting pyramid scheme.
According to investigators, in 2020, the suspect solicited funds from citizens under the pretext of participation in investment programs promising high returns. However, the company operated without the required license and did not actually conduct any investment activities.
Depositors' funds were collected without any formal accounting documentation. To create an illusion of legitimacy, investors were provided with personal accounts on an online platform that displayed fictitious "returns."
"The incoming funds were redistributed based on a pyramid scheme principle: payments to earlier participants were funded by new investors. Presentations, promotional events, and trips to the UAE and Turkey were used to expand the client base," the Agency stated.
In 2024, the suspect was placed on an international wanted list, and a court authorized her arrest in absentia. Additionally, a lien has been placed on her land plot. The criminal case has been referred to court.
Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and avoid investing their savings in dubious financial organizations.
