Over 4 thousand people are missing in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing first deputy chairman of the Legal Statistics and Special Registration Committee of Kazakhstan General Prosecutor's Office Sabit Nurlybai. "4,247 people were missing in 2012, including those missing since previous years," Sabit Nurlybai said. 843 underaged and 630 elderly (from 50 and older) are currently missing in Kazakhstan. According to the authority, 2,745 people were found last year, including 760 underaged and 346 elderly people. According to the statistics, the number of missing people sharply decreased in the period from 2008 to 2010, but started growing again in 2011: there were 3,365 people missing in 2008, 2,595 in 2009, 2,202 in 2010, 2,473 in 2011 and 2,838 in 2012.
