Kazakhstan border guards have wounded two Russian citizens on board of two boats that entered Kazakhstan’s territorial waters of the Caspian Sea, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of the frontier service of Kazakhstan National Security Department. Two small boats were discovered on September 26 by a Mi-8 helicopter crew of the regional division of onshore guards. “The crews of the boats did not respond to the guards’ legitimate request to stop made through a speaker from the helicopter. On the contrary, they tried to speed away hide away outside Kazakhstan’s territorial waters making dangerous maneuvers,” the message states. To stop the boats the guards had to use weapons. The boats stopped. They had 7 Russian citizens on boards; two of them were injured in the operation. “To save lives of the injured persons, they were lifted onboard Yegemen guard ship, where they received first medical aid and then were delivered to Atyrau oblast hospital for surgeries. Their lives and health are currently out of danger,” the press-service added. Decision is being made on whether to initiate a criminal case for deliberate violation of Kazakhstan’s border against all apprehended persons.
