Tengrinews.kz — In the first ten days of July, 760 kilograms of drugs were seized from illegal circulation in Kazakhstan. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs while summarizing the results of the Karasora-2026 operational and preventive operation, citing Polisia.kz.
According to the ministry, over 10 days, officers of the Committee on Combating Drug Crime, together with territorial units, identified 187 drug-related offenses. Of these, 86 were classified as criminal misdemeanors, while another 101 were crimes.
During this period, police stopped 46 cases of drug trafficking, identified four cases of possession of prohibited substances on an especially large scale, 40 cases of cultivation of drug-containing plants, and registered four cases of drug smuggling.
In addition, 266 kilograms of precursors and 760 kilograms of narcotic substances were seized from illegal circulation, including more than 121 kilograms of synthetic drugs.
One of the major arrests took place in Astana. Police detained a 26-year-old resident of the capital who, during a personal search and inspection of a rented apartment, was found to have 227 packages containing the synthetic drug α-PVP, with a total weight of 245 grams. According to the Interior Ministry, the man intended to sell the prohibited substances in the city.
The ministry noted that during the summer holidays, special attention is being paid to preventing drug-related crime among school students and university students. In the first ten days of July, police officers held 145 preventive events attended by about 6,000 teenagers and young people.
