Tengrinews.kz – The press service of "Passenger Transportation" has provided information on what to do if you can't buy a train ticket in Kazakhstan.
A "Waiting list" service allows passengers to queue for a ticket if it is not available for immediate purchase. This can be done no earlier than 7 days and no later than one hour before the train's departure.
How to use the "Waiting list" service:
- Register on the website bilet.railways.kz and log into your personal account.
- If a ticket for your route is not available, select the "Join waiting list" option at the bottom of the page.
- Fill out the application for the "Waiting List," providing your route and train number, along with your identification document details and email address.
- If a seat becomes available, you will receive a notification in your personal account and an SMS alert regarding the ticket purchase.
The company clarified that the queue is formed automatically.
"This means there is no human intervention, which eliminates the possibility of external changes. The system has also updated ticket sale mechanisms to prevent dishonest market participants from 'snatching' seats as they become available. If a cashier makes more than five identical requests within 30 seconds, the ticket sale system will be blocked. After three identical requests, the program warns the cashier of a potential 5-minute block if they do not stop sending identical requests. Thus, the cashier will not be able to 'snatch' seats," the press service reported.
Passengers can also take advantage of this service by visiting the ticket office of "Passenger Transportation".
Notably, in the first nine months of 2024, over 145,000 passengers purchased tickets through the "Waiting list" service on bilet.railways.kz. During this period, more than 430,000 freed-up seats were offered.
The press service of "Passenger Transportation" also explained the necessary steps to take if you miss your train.
