Tengrinews.kz - A low-cost airline passenger was shocked to find herself escorted off a plane by police after her bank card failed during an in-flight purchase, citing Daily Mail.

On March 28, 55-year-old Ann-Marie Murray faced an unexpected ordeal while flying back from a four-day birthday trip to the Canary Islands.

During the Ryanair flight to Bristol Airport, she ordered a bottle of water, a cola, and a can of Pringles, which she opened before completing the £7 (4,670 tenge) payment.

However, her bank card was declined, and she had no alternative way to pay.

"There were no issues with the card payment terminals on board this flight, and no other passenger encountered any difficulty making payments," a Ryanair spokesperson said.

The crew immediately contacted the police, who boarded the plane upon landing in Bristol. According to Murray, officers roughly escorted her to the back of a police van.

Ryanair claimed they involved authorities because the passenger began acting disruptively on board. Murray strongly denies this.

"I thought it was a joke when the crew said they had called the police. I was shocked when the police came onboard and we were asked to leave. It was so embarrassing. I had done everything I could to resolve it," she said.

Despite being questioned by police, Murray noted that the officers were polite and even accompanied her to a cash machine. She said they laughed at how absurd the situation was.

After settling the payment, Murray was informed that she was now banned from flying with Ryanair.

"I'd never fly with them again anyway," she added.

Earlier, Air Astana's press service announced that Air Astana and FlyArystan would ban the use of popular gadgets on board.
