Adilbek Dzhaksybekov, Kazakhstan Minister of Defense presented Olympic champions Olga Rypakova and Serik Sapiyev with captain straps ahead of time at the official awarding ceremony. All the members of the Army who performed at the London Olympics as the part of Kazakhstan national team got the Armed Forces anniversary medals and commemorative gifts. “All of you were firmly set for the victory and demonstrated endurance, composure and confidence,” Adilbek Dzhaksybekov said. “The Armed Forces and the whole country are really proud of you. I wish you to achieve a big success at the world sport arena to the glory of the Army and Kazakhstan sport.” 27 Kazakhstan Army men took part in 10 sport events at the Olympic Games. Representatives of the Armed Forces constituted the fifth part of Kazakhstan national team that took part in the London Olympics. Kazakhstan was ranked 12th by medal count among other 204 countries that participated in the Olympics. Kazakhstan athletes won 13 medals, including 7 gold, 1 silver and five bronze medals.
