Kosmat Aitmukhametov has been appointed Akim (Governor) of Akmola oblast, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan President’s official website. Kosman Aitmukhametov used to work as deputy Akim of Akmola oblast since 2009. In different years he served as Director of a communications car depot in Astana, deputy Director and then Director of GorKomMunKhoz in Astana. Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Serik Akhmetov introduced the new Akim to the region. Serik Akhmetov took part in the Maslikhat (local executive body) session and read out the President’s letter suggesing to appoint Kosman Aitmukhametov the new oblast Akim. The deputies supported the suggestion unanimously. “You know Kosman Aitmukhametov very well. He was born in your region and started his career as a worker. He succeeded on managerial positions. He used to be deputy and first deputy Akim of Akmola oblast,” the press-service cited Prime-Minister. Serik Akhmetov also thanked the outgoing Akim of the oblast Kairat Kozhamzharov for his job noting that the oblast achieved good results in social and economic development and much was done to support agriculture, development of small and medium business and tourism. Kairat Kozhamzharov was earlier appointed secretary of Kazakhstan Security Council. He replaced Marat Tazhin in this position, who was appointed Kazakhstan’s Secretary of State. Kozhamzharov worked as Akim of Akmola oblast since January 2012. Before that he worked as chairman of Kazakhstan Agency for Countering Economic and Corruption Crimes (financial police) since December 2008.
