Kidney transplantation was made in Astana to children wait-listed by Kazakhstan Healthcare Ministry for treatment abroad, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of the National Medical Holding. The transplantation was performed to three children (4, 10 and 17 years old) from alive relative donors in the National Scientific Center of Maternity and Childhood. The patients were put in intensive care after the surgery. Their condition was stable. "The transplanted organs are functioning," the press-service wrote. The transplantations of the kidneys were made jointly with Belarus doctors during a master-class on implementation of import-replacing innovative technologies in late November 2012. According to the press-service, the surgeries were held in two operating rooms. One team of urologists were taking the donor kidneys out, while the other team of transplantologists was transplanting the kidneys to the recipients. The donors were checked in the National Diagnostics Center free of charge. This Center also performed the monitoring of the recipients' conditions and made test in the post-surgery period. The problem of children's kidney diseases is quite widespread in Kazakhstan. The wait list for kidney transplantation abroad includes 27 children. 24 of them are receiving substitutive renal therapy in the National Scientific Center of Maternity and Childhood.
