Tengrinews.kz – All flights were canceled today at Belgium’s major airports due to a large-scale national strike.

According to Euronews, three major trade unions continue their protest against budget cuts and plans to raise the retirement age.

"To ensure the safety of passengers and staff, we have decided, in consultation with airlines, not to operate any departing flights on 26 November," Brussels Airport said in a statement.

The announcement concerns the country’s main and busiest airport — Zaventem. Airport representatives added that some arriving flights may also be affected, as ground services and security staff are also participating in the strike.

A similar situation is unfolding at Brussels–Charleroi Airport. On 26 November, neither arrivals nor departures will operate. Additionally, reaching the airport may be difficult: road closures and major disruptions to public transport are possible during the strike. Rail services are also running irregularly.

Airlines have already warned that they will directly contact passengers whose flights have been canceled and offer alternatives — from rebooking to full refunds.

Travelers are advised to check schedules in advance, keep backup route options ready, and allow extra time for possible delays.
