Boxer Serik Sapiyev will get Toyota Land Cruiser-200 from Karaganda oblast for his gold medal at London Olympics, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports. “This is an outstanding victory of the boxer for Abai village of Karaganda oblast. In the last 20 years Kazakhstan has been an example in work and life. Our new achievements in sport prove that the country pays significant attention to sport. A range of sports facilities have been built. We impressed the world with a good number of gold Olympic medals. Our boxer Serik Sapiyev showed that Kazakhstan sportsmen can achieve high results,” Akim (Governor) of Karaganda oblast Abelgazy Kussainov told the journalists. “Miners and metallurgists of the country and administration of Karaganda oblasts are giving Land Cuiser-200 to Serik Sapiyev,” he added. Sapiyev won gold medal on the last day of the Games. Besides, he was tagged the best boxer of the 30th summer Olympics. Val Barker Trophy, the most prestigious award in amateur boxing, was handed to Kazakhstan sportsman by the President of the International Boxing Association Ching-Kuo Wu. Sapiyev became the third Kazakhstan boxer to receive this prestigious award after Vassiliy Zhirov (in 1996) and Bakhtiyar Artayev (in 2004).
