Ice Hockey: Kazakhstan ranked second after first day of World Championship in Hungary

Kazakhstan national ice hockey team was ranked second overall in the Group A – I Division World Championship after the first day, Vesti.kz reports. The national men's hockey team of Kazakhstan coached by Vladimir Krikunov won over the Japanese team 5:2 in the first match of the World Championship that kicked off in Budapest on April 14. Kazakhstan was behind Italy that defeated South Korea with the score of 4:0. Hungary that hosts the Championship had won over the British team earlier and had the same number of points. Kazakhstan's second match was against Great Britain on August 15. Only two teams, ranked first and second overall, will qualify for the elite division of the World Championship.
