Tengrinews.kz – Effective June 25, 2026, India has updated its entry requirements for international tourists. Travelers are now advised to complete the Air Suvidha 2.0 online health declaration and obtain a QR code prior to their trip.

What has changed

According to the VisaNews. The form can be submitted no earlier than 24 hours before arrival via the official Air Suvidha portal. Upon submission, passengers receive a registration confirmation, which should be kept in digital or printed format. Authorities may require the document during health screenings or immigration procedures.

The Air Suvidha system was previously utilized during the COVID-19 pandemic but has now been reintroduced in an updated format. This new version is fully digital, eliminating the need for paper forms upon arrival.

Required information

In the declaration, travelers must provide:

  • Personal details;
  • Flight information;
  • First airport of entry in India;
  • Transit countries;
  • Travel history for the past 21 days;
  • Information regarding potential symptoms or contact with infectious sources.

To complete the form, passengers will need their passport, flight details, their address in India, an email address, and a phone number. In some instances, the system may request a One-Time Password (OTP) for verification.

Once the form is submitted, the user is assigned a registration number and can download the completed declaration.

Why India reintroduced Air Suvidha

India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation stated that the system was developed in collaboration with the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The initiative aims to strengthen health screenings at ports of entry while streamlining the arrival process for greater efficiency.

The relaunch of Air Suvidha is linked to the epidemiological situation in Central Africa. According to Indian authorities, the decision was made in response to an Ebola outbreak (Bundibugyo strain) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.

"The Air Suvidha 2.0 portal has been introduced in response to the Ebola/Bundibugyo outbreak reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda," Indian authorities said in a statement.

Information from the declaration can be shared in real-time with airport health offices, immigration authorities, and epidemiological surveillance services. This allows for the rapid identification of passengers who may pose a public health risk and, if necessary, their referral for medical evaluation.

Key takeaways for tourists

Travelers are recommended to complete the Air Suvidha 2.0 form before boarding, for instance, during online check-in. This will help expedite clearance upon arrival.

The declaration does not replace other entry documents. It does not waive the requirement for a visa or e-visa if one is required for a citizen's specific nationality.

Furthermore, Air Suvidha 2.0 should not be confused with the e-Arrival Card. These are separate documents: the e-Arrival Card pertains to immigration procedures and can be completed 72 hours before entry, whereas Air Suvidha is strictly for health screening and must be filed no earlier than 24 hours before arrival.

Additionally, passengers with a confirmed illness or suspected Ebola infection must contact airport health officials before proceeding to passport control. If symptoms develop within 21 days of arriving in India, authorities advise seeking immediate medical attention and informing healthcare providers of recent travel.
