Nikolay Antropov from Winnipeg National Hockey League has agreed to be caped for Kazakhstan in the World Hockey Championship in Finland and Sweden, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Shaiba.kz. However, the hockey player said that his participation in the World Championship would depend on results of his medical tests. “I have got the following situation now: I have played the last six-seven matches taking pain killers. I have undergone a medical check before my vacation and I failed it. I am going to do a magnetic resonance imaging procedure on Thursday, April 12. It will be a profound medical examination. Then doctors will say if I play in the Championship or require a treatment.” Winnipeg hasn't reached NHL play-off stage, that's why Antropov had a chance to play for Kazakhstan national team. Kazakhstan player delivered the first puck in the NHL history of Winnipeg into Montreal gates this season. “Some people approached me after the match and asked for my hockey-stick, puck and mitts. I heard that they were going to exhibit them in Toronto Hockey Hall of Fame,” the player added. Antropov also said that he would be happy to bring the Stanley Cup to Ust-Kamenogorsk in future. “Of course, this is my native city. But first of all I need to win the Cup and then I will care about other things. This is a tradition. I heard from my teammates that the organizers gave the Cup for one day only. I don't know if my schedule will allow this, but I would like to bring it to Ust-Kamenogorsk if I win it,” Antropov said. World Hockey Championship will kick off on May 4 in Helsinki and Stockholm. Kazakhstan national team coached by Andrey Shayanov was assigned with a task to keep its' place in the world hockey elite division.
