Aktau native wins bronze in Sochi

Figure skaters Yelena Ilinykh and Nikita Katsalapov have won a bronze medal in the Figure Skating Ice Dance during the Sochi Olympics, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz. Yelena Ilinykh was born in Aktau, Kazakhstan on April 25, 1994. Her grandmother brought her to the skating ring for the first time when she was just 4 y.o. Yelena's first coach suggested the parents to transfer the talented child to a different group and start thinking about a sports career for the girl. Ilinykh was training with Irina Lobacheva, a famous Russian figure skating coach, for some time. In 2006 she left to the US to train with Igor Shpilban and Marina Zueva, the skaters who has won gold and silver medals in Sochi. After two years in the States, Ilinykh returned to Moscow and started skating with Nikita Katsalapov.
