A famous American TV presenter, chef and co-founder of Bizarre Food TV show Andrew Zimmern has visited Kazakhstan and shared his impression of Kazakh national dishes, Tengrinews reports citing Arizona Daily Star.
The show has been running with some breaks since 2007, when it first debuted on Travel Channel.
Each episode of Bizarre Foods focuses on regional cuisines from around the world, which is typically perceived by Americans as being exotic. In each episode, Zimmern shows how the food is prepared, where it is served, and, usually without hesitation, eats it.
The first episode of the eighth season of the program premiered this Monday, April 13. Andrew Zimmern traveled to Kazakhstan to try Kazakh national cuisine and then talk about it in his program.
In Kazakhstan, Andrew Zimmern ate sheep brain, horse meat and drank camel milk (shubat). He admitted he was a little bit shocked that people in Kazakhstan filled animal guts and stomach with meat.
"I tried fantastic things in Kazakhstan. They slaughtered livestock, stuffed animal's stomach with pieces of meat (...) We were in the mountains and on horseback. I held a golden eagle on my arm, and once it noticed a rabbit, this huge bird took off caught it. It is an amazing experience. We ate the rabbit at the riverside. I skinned and roasted it over an open fire. I do not know whether I prepared it right, but I did my best, " Andrew Zimmern shared his impression.
He also spoke about Kazakh national dish – beshbarmak. "This dish is made from horse meat and flat noodles. Kazakhs add caramelized onions to it. Noodles is in the form of lasagna. I liked beshbarmak," Andrew Zimmern said.

In Illinois USA a horse slaughter plant close to our home killed brutally horses which were filled with dangerous drugs in the meat. The Agency looking for drugs which cause cancer...blood issues...west nile illness and lots of other health issues including miscarriage. They accept forged affidavits stating horses were clean of drugs vaccines or illness. The Agency did not check all carcasses and allowed dangerous meat to be exported. Using media and manipulation they continue to state the meats safe knowing its simply not. The horses are beaten...treated cruelly and often dead on arrival. While they are not to take meat from dying...dead or ill animals they were continually in violation. While Mr. Zimmerman finds himself amusing with what he eats....the Horse Industry is under fire. The entire industry except those few supporting horse slaughter are attempting to close plants permanently. Meat going through Canada or Mexico plants are even less monitored and when asked if they were worried they said it goes to other countries so they dont care what happens.
