The administration of the Spiritual Management of the Muslims of Kazakhstan transports up to $1.5 million in cash in a bag to Saudi Arabia, CA-NEWS writes citing a statement that deputy head of the 4th division of Kyrgyzstan National Security Department Akylbek Mazharipov make at the meeting of Ata Meken party. According to the official, to exclude embezzlement of the funds allocated for accommodation of pilgrims in Medina by ‘azhy bashchy’ (heads of the pilgrim groups), mufti Rakhmatullo azhy Egemberdiyev personally transports the funds in the amount of $450 thousand for accommodation and $1.2 million for other expenses. “None of the muftis of other countries allow themselves to personally deal with finances. These facts give indirect grounds for doubts of accuracy and fullness of the payments made,” the official said. Bank transfers would be a better way to get the money to Saudi Arabia, it would have eliminated the high risk of theft among other things, he said.
