Probability of color revolutions within the CIS is on the decrease as people see no changes for the better in those nations that have lived through such revolutions, Newskaz.ru reports, citing President Nazarbayev as saying in his recent interview for the Russia 24 Channel. “The first wave of color revolutions has lost its strength (…) Revolutions have been ongoing in the neighboring Kyrgyzstan (…) however, the life of common people there isn’t getting any better”, President believes. He also cited Ukraine as an example to support his stance. He reminded that Ukraine with a population of almost 50 million people (which is three times bigger than that of Kazakhstan) used to boast of a more powerful economy. “Today economies of Ukraine and Kazakhstan are similar. It is very surprising! (…) Ukraine’s economy has seen certain stagnation (…) even given the country’s proximity to Europe and its access to the sea!”, Nazarbayev said. “I am not quite sure what is happening in Georgia (…) to ensure self-reliance of a nation, it is a must to maintain trade ties with its neighbors”, he said.
