The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Kazakhstan has dispelled rumors about mass authorized migration of work force from China and South Kazakhstan to Kazakhstan's northern regions, Tengrinews reports.
Earlier, Matritca.kz reported that Kazakhstan, in view of the situation in Ukraine, wanted to strengthen its relations with China through mutual agricultural projects. And the said project allegedly required a workforce of 300 thousand people, which called for a mass relocation of workforce from Southern Kazakhstan and China.
Tamara Duisenova of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection confirmed that she was aware of the news report about the migration of workforce. "No, it is definitely not true," she said at the sidelines of the meeting to a Tengrinews reporter.
"Basically, there is not such thing. There is a government regulation facilitating settlement of the Oralmans (repatriated ethnic Kazakhs) in different regions of the country. And the northern regions of Kazakhstan do offer more incentives and better employment to the oralmans who arrive, than other regions of our country. But there is nothing about relocation of 300 thousand people," the Minister assured.
