Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev has instructed the government to make sure that more Kazakhstan-based companies are involved in construction of EXPO-2017 venues, but specified that those should be the construction companies that can comply with the quality standards, Tengrinews reports citing the presidential press-service. Construction materials used in construction of EXPO-2017 venues should also be Kazakhstan-made, the President continued. "Construction of large EXPO-2017 facilities should be used to stimulate development of small and medium-sized enterprises. However, the quality must be carefully controlled and they have to employ the personnel of relevant qualification," Nazarbayev said. He reminded that Kazakhstan needed an action plant to train the personnel that will be involved in the preparation and holding of the international exhibition. "Experts and companies from all over Kazakhstan should be attracted", not only from Astana, he said. "I am repeating once again, all the venues must have a use that would benefit the people of Kazakhstan and capital city after the EXPO is over," Nazarbayev stressed. Speaking about the preparation for the green energy exhibitions to be held in Astana several years to come, he mentioned a possibility of creating an Energy Institute together with the Nazarbayev University, the country's education flagship. "The new institution will be studying new energy sources. We should collect foreign practices in the area and create laboratories to study further. I have already received a number of projects on development of various kinds of energy. We should consider the possibility of implementing them," Nazarbayev said. The head of the Astana EXPO-2017 National Company Talgat Yermegiyayev reported that construction of the first exhibition venues would start in April 2014. At around the same time Kazakhstan will receive the official flag for the exhibition from the International Exhibitions Bureau, an intergovernmental organization created to supervise international exhibitions (also known as Expos or World's Fairs). "All the administrative registration procedures for hosting the international exhibition were completed in December 2013. We are now working on schedule, with no delays," Yermegiyayev said.
