Nursultan Nazarbayev met with the president of Russian Railroads Vladimir Yakunin, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of Kazakhstan President. “Nursultan Nazarbayev and Vladimir Yakunin discussed development of the railroads and unification of railroad rates, as well as the functioning of the railroad transport in the Common Economic Space and the Customs Union,” the message states. According to the press-service, there is currently a sustainable growth of the railroad transportation between Kazakhstan and Russia. The volume of container transportation exceeded 100 million tons in 2011. A significant progress is seen in transportation of transit cargoes at the territory of both countries in the Customs Union: the container transportation grew 1.5-fold.
