The annual globalization index is based on five criteria: openness to trade, capital flows, exchange of technology and ideas, labor movements and cultural integration. The 2012 rating was made based on the results of the poll of 730 managers of major corporations around the world. The rating includes 60 countries. Kazakhstan is ranked 56th with 3.12 points in the Index. Its standing improved by 0.06 points since 2011. Nigeria (3.16 points) and India (3.17 points) are ahead of Kazakhstan in the 55th and 54th places, correspondingly. The Index is led by Hong Kong with 7.81 points. It is followed by Singapore (6.31 points), Ireland (5.63 points), Belgium (5.49 points) and Switzerland (5.3 points). Great Britain is ranked 10th (4.74 points), France is 14th (4.58 points), the U.S. is 25th (4.33 points), China is 44th (3.53 points), Ukraine is 47th (3.31 points) and Russia is 48th (3.24 points). The last position, 60th, is given to Iran (2.16 points).
