Kazakhstan and Luxembourg have inked a number of bilateral treaties following the meeting of Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov and Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel on May 21, Tengrinews reports.

Luxembourg's PM arrived in Astana to take part in the VIII Astana Economic Forum, which Kazakhstan's capital Astana hosted on May 21-22.

Following their meeting, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Investments and Development Asset Issekeshev and Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure Francois Bausch of Luxembourg signed an intergovernmental agreement on air communication.

The new agreement enables the airlines of the European Union countries that previously made no flights to Kazakhstan, to perform flights from Luxembourg to Kazakhstan. Only airlines of Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom were operating flights to Kazakhstan before. But now airlines of more than 20 other countries of the European Union will be able to fly to Kazakhstan.

TheCivil Aviation Committeeof Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Investments and Development explained that this agreement would contribute to development of international air transport and making Kazakhstan an international aviation hub - the tasks voiced by Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev in his State-of-the-Nation Address Nurly Zhol - The Path to the Future.

In addition, Kazakhstan and Luxembourg signed a memorandum on mutual understanding on the transfer of financial technologies between the two countries.
