Chairman of Kazakhstan Senate Kairat Mami has met with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Kazakhstan Carolyn Browne, Tengrinews reports citing the Senate’s press-service. “Browne thanked Kazakhstan parliament for the timely ratification of the bilateral agreement allowing transit of the military property and personnel via Kazakhstan in relation to Great Britain’s participation in the international efforts on stabilization and restoration of Afghanistan,” the message states. Earlier in June Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the law on transit of Great Britain’s military property and personnel via Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan will be receiving $300-400 thousand per year from Great Britain from transit of military cargoes via its territory. The payment will depend on the frequency of flights, types of cargoes and their weight. During the meeting British Ambassador and Kazakhstan Senate speaker agreed that the countries had a vast potential for inter-parliamentary interaction. Kairat Mami said that Kazakhstan would support participation of British companies in implementation of projects for diversification of Kazakhstan’s economy and development of highly-technological and export-oriented production facilities in Kazakhstan.
