France will support the strategic partnership of Kazakhstan and the EU, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Foreign Minister of France Laurent Fabius as saying at the meeting with Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrissov. “I came with a big delegation that includes heads of the biggest French companies. We are currently working in the new spirit of so-called economic diplomacy. We have many projects. We have discussed many issues with my colleague. In particular, he said that Kazakhstan would like to enter the WTO in the nearest future. I told him once again that he could count on the full support from France. And this is not only about the WTO, but also about implementation of the new strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and European Union in the nearest time,” Laurent Fabius said. According to him, the meeting also covered international problems of regional security. In particular, the parties discussed Afghanistan and Iran issues. According to Fabius, Kazakhstan and France have common positions and similar points of view on many regional issues, in particular, on Afghanistan. “We discussed the issues related to higher education and culture. We have just signed an agreement on higher education and science and plan to organize a criss-cross season of culture between the two countries. We have scheduled several events that, I am confident, will attract many visitors. An agreement has also been signed between Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and French Alstom on production of railway switch operating gear,” Laurent Fabius said. Fabius congratulated Kazakhstan party on the victory in the contest to host the EXPO-2017 and assured that France would take part in the exhibition. “France is a strategic partner of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan and France are united by political interaction. I am glad to note that Mister Fabius has come with a big delegation. Over 25 high-tech projects are being implemented after the Kazakhstan President’s recent visit to France,” Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrissov said. By Baubek Konyrov
