Akhmetov discussed major breakthrough projects with German manufacturers

Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Serik Akhmetov discussed creation of major breakthrough projects with German manufacturers, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Prime-Minister’s press-service. During his work trip to Germany Serik Akhmetov held talks with President of the Federal Association of German Industry Ulrich Grillo who confirmed the intentions of the manufacturers to expand cooperation with Kazakhstan. The meeting covered participation of German business in diversification of Kazakhstan’s economy and creation of major breakthrough projects. “There is currently a dynamic partnership in different sectors of the economy between Kazakhstan and Germany,” Akhmetov said reiterating Kazakhstan’s interest in transfer of high technologies and investments from Germany. Besides, Kazakhstan Prime-Minister noted at the meeting with German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle that the relations between Kazakhstan and Germany had been developing dynamically and successfully over the past years. An intensive top-level political dialog had been established, the bilateral partnership was enhancing, a massive contractual legal framework had been created, the volume of commodities turnover was increasing and cultural-humanitarian cooperation was expanding. According to Prime-Minister, the relations between the countries were boosted by agreements in political, trade and economic and cultural-humanitarian sectors reached during Nursultan Nazarbayev’s visit to Berlin in February. Akhmetov also met with head of the work group on implementation of the Agreement on partnership in energy, manufacturing and technological sectors Peter Tils, held bilateral meetings with Senior Vice-President of John Deere Deutschland Chris Wigger, owner of Wermuth Asset Management GmbH Jochen Wermuth and Senior Vice-President of Cassidian/EADS Deutschland Elmar Compans. Besides, Akhmetov held a meeting with chairman of the Eastern Committee of German Economy Eckhard Cordes and passed him congratulations of Nursultan Nazarbayev on the 60th anniversary of the Committee. Akhmetov noted that the economic interaction between the two countries had significantly developed over the past years. Germany was one of the leading business partners for Kazakhstan and the commodities turnover made $2.5 billion in January-August 2012. “We have to actively work on implementation of the agreement on partnership in energy, manufacturing and technological sectors signed during February visit of the President to Berlin,” Akhmetov stressed. According to Prime-Minister, Kazakhstan-German Business Council on Strategic Cooperation plays an important role in implementation of the agreement. “Kazakhstan certifies its adherence to comprehensive support to German companies in implementation of joint projects in the priority economy sectors. They ensure both transfer of technologies and know-how and investments and innovations to Kazakhstan economy, Kazakhstan Prime-Minister said adding that Kazakhstan created all conditions for development of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation and business. Akhmetov thanked Germany for supporting Astana as a candidate to host EXPO-2017. Cordes confirmed mutual interest in the work on creation of joint companies, transfer of new technologies and investments to Kazakhstan’s economy. According to Prime-Minister’s press-service, the trip of the head of Kazakhstan Government is aimed to activate the work on implementation of the agreements reached during Nursultan Nazarbayev’s visit to Germany in February.
