Internal migration has to be controlled in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing several deputies of the lower chamber of the Parliament. On February 1 Aitkul Samakova applied to the government with a request to develop a special migration program. “Internal migrants are mainly the inbound migrants from villages, most of them are from local ethnic groups. Spontaneously moving to large cities they spontaneously assimilate in the suburbs of the big cities and oblast centers. Lots of problems arise from this: accommodation, sanitary-hygienic problems, lack of schools, hospitals, kindergartens; social tension mounts. It is mainly the people of employable age who aim for the big cities, and the government has to face the economic and social consequences of this,” Aitkul Samakova said. According to the Statistics Agency, the share of internal migrants made around 70 percent in the migration flows in 1991-2007, which means that almost 5 million Kazakhstan people changed locations of residence migrating inside the country in this period.
