Tengrinews.kz — Police in Astana detained the driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser this morning following a series of traffic accidents. The case was heard in the capital's specialized inter-district administrative court.
Court Findings
The court reviewed an administrative offense case involving Olympic champion Daniyar Yeleussinov.
"It was established that while driving under the influence of alcohol through the streets of Astana, he caused three separate traffic accidents", the court stated.
The driver violated traffic regulations, resulting in the following incidents:
- colliding with a gate support in an underground parking garage;
- striking another vehicle, which then caused a chain-reaction collision with a third car;
- subsequently colliding with a Kia Sportage, which was pushed into a Toyota Hilux by the force of the impact.
The accidents resulted in mechanical damage to the vehicles and significant property damage.
"The offender's guilt is confirmed by the case materials, including a medical examination report indicating a mild degree of alcohol intoxication, as well as administrative offense protocols, accident diagrams, video footage, statements from participants, and other evidence examined by the court," the court announced.
The athlete's actions were classified under Part 3 of Article 608 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
The Court's Decision
During the court session, the athlete fully admitted his guilt..
"The court found no circumstances under Part 2 of Article 50 of the Code of Administrative Offenses that would preclude administrative arrest. Since the sanction under Part 3 of Article 608 is mandatory, the court imposed an administrative penalty of 20 days in custody and a 7-year ban on operating motor vehicles", the court clarified.
The court orders have not yet entered into legal force.
Earlier reports indicated that, according to preliminary data, the driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser collided with several cars before fleeing the scene. The man showed signs of alcohol intoxication. Police confirmed to a Tengrinews.kz correspondent that the driver was Olympic boxing champion Daniyar Yeleussinov.
