Magnitude 5.0 earthquake hits Kyrgyzstan

The quake occurred at 11:38 a.m. Astana time, with the epicenter located 145 kilometers southeast of Bishkek. Kazakhstan’s Emergency Situations Department in Almaty reported that the epicenter was about 239 kilometers southwest of Almaty. No tremors were felt in the city.
According to the Institute of Seismology of Kyrgyzstan’s National Academy of Sciences, the intensity of the quake varied across local settlements:
- 4.5 points in villages such as Jany-Talap, Ak-Kyia, Baigonchok, Ugut, Kok-Jar, Ak-Talaa, and Kara-Oi
- 4 points in Bayetovo, Jylyan-Aryk, and 8-Marta
- 3 points in Emgek-Talaa, Dostuk, Shoro, Dedemel, Kosh-Bulak, and Kulanak
- 2.5 points in the city of Naryn
Earlier that day, Kazakh seismologists recorded a quake 234 kilometers from Almaty, with its epicenter just 9 kilometers northwest of Jany-Talap.
