Payments to veterans in Astana
In Astana, social payments were organized according to the rules of the city maslikhat approved in October 2023. A total of 3,398 people received one-time social payments for May 9 in Astana, the city akimat reported.
Payments ranged from 64,000 to 5 million tenge. According to the akimat, the maximum payment of 5 million tenge was received by one veteran of the Great Patriotic War.
For other categories of citizens, payments were distributed as follows:
- 45 MCI (194,625 tenge) were received by 476 people equated in benefits to WWII veterans — combat participants, residents of besieged Leningrad and former concentration camp prisoners;
- 45 MCI (194,625 tenge) were paid to 1,167 veterans of military operations in other countries, except participants of the Afghan war;
- 15 MCI (64,875 tenge) were received by 1,753 people, including home front workers and families of deceased servicemen.
The Astana akimat also reported that additional support measures are provided from the local budget for WWII veterans and equivalent categories:
- free public transport,
- sanatorium and resort treatment,
- provision of medicines,
- monthly compensation for utility services.
Who is eligible for payments in Almaty
The city akimat explained that financial support is provided in accordance with the decision of the Almaty maslikhat dated December 8, 2023.
According to the document, payments in the amount of 5,000,000 tenge were received by participants of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.
This list includes:
- military personnel who served in military units, headquarters and institutions as part of the active army and navy;
- partisans and underground fighters;
- persons with disabilities caused by wounds, contusions, injuries or illnesses during the war;
- workers and employees whose disabilities were established due to injuries and illnesses received during the war years.
How many people received payments in Almaty
The Almaty akimat reported that 15 veterans received one-time social assistance.
“In 2026, in Almaty, payments to this category of citizens were made in advance, in April. One-time social assistance was received by 15 veterans of the Great Patriotic War in full,” the city administration said.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Defense Askar Mustabekov said that in 2026 Kazakhstan will not hold a military parade for May 7 and 9. Instead, festive and military-patriotic events will be organized in different cities, regions and district centers of the country.
