Tengrinews.kz — Deputy Minister of Defense Askar Mustabekov spoke about the events planned for May 7 and 9 this year instead of holding a parade. The parade will not be held this year.

According to the deputy minister, the Ministry of Defense does not allocate funds for holiday events. This is done by local akimats.

“This year we are not planning a parade, but there are a number of events scheduled for May 7–9 in various cities, regions and district centers. These include events such as drill concerts, displays of weapons and military equipment, and setting up tents to prepare soldiers’ porridge with invitations extended to veterans of the Great Patriotic War,” Mustabekov said at a briefing in the Senate.

A more detailed announcement of all holiday events for May 7 and 9 will be provided later, the Ministry of Defense said.

Recall: last year, a large-scale military parade was held in Astana in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day and the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

More than 4,000 servicemen, over 200 units of military equipment, as well as 66 aircraft and helicopters of frontline, army and military transport aviation took part in the parade.
