Thick grey clouds loomed over the capital, with locals describing the downpour as coming down "like a wall". The storm was accompanied by strong winds, hailstones, and flashes of lightning, causing momentary disruptions across the city.

Earlier, forecasters had warned of variable cloudiness, rain, thunderstorms, and possible hail for July 5. Winds were expected to shift from the west to the northwest, reaching 15–20 meters per second in gusts. Temperatures hovered around +14 to +16°C at night and +22 to +24°C during the day.
- July 6 (Capital Day): No precipitation expected, with partly cloudy skies, western winds at 9–14 m/s, and a high of +26 to +28°C.
- July 7: Another round of bad weather is forecast, with rain, hail, and thunderstorms returning. Winds will remain steady at 9–14 m/s, and daytime temperatures will stay between +26 and +28°C.
Despite the storm, preparations for Capital Day celebrations continue, with a major open-air concert and fireworks display scheduled for July 6.
