Every fifth Kazakhstan citizen is confident that nepotism is a key to obtaining mortgage loans in banks or other financial organizations, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Director of Sandzh research center Zhanar Dzhandossova as saying during Almaty round-table meeting called Satisfaction with transparency and accessibility of banking services in Kazakhstan. According to the research, 59 percent of respondents think that mortgage is accessible in Kazakhstan, but registration take much time and efforts. 20 percent of the citizens are confident that connections - kinship or friendship - are required to obtain mortgage loans and only 10 percent of respondents think that a bank's willingness to extend a loan is rooted in the applicant's collateral property, high and stable earnings. Meanwhile, only 8 percent of the citizens think that mortgage is easily accessible in Kazakhstan and 4 percent of respondents expressed the contrary opinion. According to Dzhandossova, the majority of respondents are confident that nepotism is also the key to obtaining full information on loans (31 percent). Meanwhile, the same number of respondents (31 percent) think that information on interest rates, periods of registration of loans and number of required documents advertised by the banks does not reflect the reality. The survey was held in 16 cities of Kazakhstan and covered 500 people. According to Director of the research center, 400 of them are entrepreneurs representing legal entities and 100 are individuals. All of the respondents had obtained loans at least once.
