Woman lay on the floor and screamed at Astana Airport — what happened

The video spread on social media and raised questions among users.

“The video shows a woman on the floor of the capital’s airport surrounded by police officers. Presumably, they are trying to detain her,” the caption to the video says.

The footage shows passengers and law enforcement officers gathered around the woman. However, the video itself does not make clear what exactly happened.

What police said

We contacted the press service of the Police Department on transport for comment.

According to the department, the incident occurred at Astana Airport before the departure of an Astana — Shymkent flight.

“Officers of the Police Department on transport at Astana Airport removed a 36-year-old resident of Shymkent from the Astana — Shymkent flight on the basis of a report from airline representatives for violating public order,” the press service said.

According to police, the woman was intoxicated during the proceedings.

“During the proceedings, the woman, while under the influence of alcohol, used obscene language, behaved aggressively and disobeyed the lawful demands of police officers,” the Transport Police Department said.

The department also said the woman was held administratively liable under several articles of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

“The offender was held liable under three articles of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan — for appearing in public places while intoxicated, petty hooliganism, and disobeying a lawful order or demand of a law enforcement officer,” police noted.

The case materials have now been sent to court.

“The materials have been sent to court for a procedural decision,” the press service said.
