Kazakhstan intends to raise prices for gas supplied to Kyrgyzstan from the current $195 to $281 per thousand cubic meters, KazTag Agency reported, citing the KyrgyzGas Director General Turgunbek Kulmurzayev. KazTransGas in 2012 plans to purchase natural gas at $281 per thousand cubic meters as compared to the previous $195, according to Mr. Kulmurzayev. At the same time, talks are under way to reduce the price. “I hope we will come to terms with regards to the price”, he said. September 21, 2011 KazTransGas and KyrgyzGas agreed to supply 240 million cubic metres of Kazakh gas to Kyrgyzstan. As Vice Energy Minister of Kyrgyzstan Kairat Dzhumaliyev told in December, the gas purchased from KazTransGas will be enough till May 2012. “Kyrgyzstan may ask for additional supplies. Talks are under way with the Kazakh side on gas supplies throughout 2012”, he said.
