As of March 1, 2012 Kazakhstan-based banks have issued a total of 10.3 million bank cards, KazTag Agency reports, citing the National Bank’s Press Service. “The number of bank cards has hit 10.3 million, with the number of bank card holders reaching 9.5 million people (17.1% and 17.5% up as compared to the indicators as of March 1, 2011”, the National Bank’s statement reads. Card transactions in February 2012 alone totaled over $2.6 billion, with the number of transactions standing at 13.7 million. As of March 1, 2012 bank cards are issued by 21 banks and KazPost Post Service Operator.
