Tengrinews.kz - Vice Minister of Healthcare Erbol Ospanov said that Face ID technology will now be used to vaccinate Kazakhstanis.

"As for vaccination, you know that there are problems, this is discussed on social networks, various false messages appear about whether vaccination was done or not. In order to eliminate these misunderstandings, we plan to use Face ID technology," the official said at a briefing of the Central Communications Service.

In addition, as Ospanov noted, confirmation via a QR code of a digital document in eGov will also be used.

"This digital document is provided free of charge, and most of us are already using this QR code in eGov. Secondly, Face ID technology is a project of the Ministry of Healthcare, for which funds were not allocated. This is a service that was developed in about one month," he emphasized.

Also, as the vice minister noted, special webcams will be purchased for the implementation of the patient identification system at clinics throughout Kazakhstan.

"Medical organizations will be required to purchase web cameras to identify patients. Cameras cost from 3 000-4 000 tenge, but if they are expensive and serious, then from 15 thousand tenge. We tested on cameras costing about 4,000 tenge, and they work fine, without interruption," said Erbol Ospanov.

According to the official, today digital patient identification is already in effect in 48 medical institutions in Astana.

"We launched it as a pilot in Astana. First, in Polyclinic №10, we studied the process there and launched it. We gradually launched it in 48 medical organizations in the capital - private and public. Based on the results of the pilot, from 2025 we plan to implement it in all medical organizations in Kazakhstan where there is state funding," the vice minister noted.

Earlier, the Ministry of Healthcare published an order amending the conditions for consent to receive vaccinations in medical institutions or refusal of it. Now, consent or refusal of vaccination, according to updated data, will need to be issued in electronic format.
