Tengrinews.kz - Astana Airport will soon undergo major runway repairs, leading to temporary changes in its operating schedule. The restrictions, which will affect both domestic and international flights, will be in place during the first two months of autumn.
When and how the airport will close
According to the airport’s press service, the repair schedule is as follows:
- September 1 - 4, 2025 — daily closures from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- September 7 - October 31, 2025 — the same daily closure from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
During these hours, no takeoffs or landings will be carried out.
Flights before 10:00 AM and after 6:00 PM will operate as normal. The runway will be closed for scheduled maintenance and replacement of lighting equipment, measures the airport says are necessary to ensure flight safety.
SCAT Airlines
SCAT Airlines told Tengrinews.kz that it had made adjustments to its schedule well in advance.
Daytime flights on the Shymkent – Astana – Shymkent and Almaty – Astana – Almaty routes have been canceled.
Around 300 flights in total have been rescheduled for the duration of the closure.
Two out of four flights to Prague have been canceled, and flights to Batumi have also been reduced.
“All changes were made in advance in booking systems, and passengers are being notified through official channels,” the airline stressed.
Travelers are advised to check the updated schedule on scat.kz or call the support line at 8 7252 99 88 80.
Air Astana
Air Astana also confirmed temporary schedule adjustments during the runway closure hours.
The changes affect flights to and from Astana on the following routes: Almaty, Atyrau, Aktau, Aktobe, Uralsk, Kostanay, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Frankfurt, Dubai, Seoul, Istanbul, Antalya, Beijing, Phuket, and Nha Trang.
Passengers whose flights were affected were notified in advance using their booking contact details. Those who missed connecting flights were offered alternative travel options.
