Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the second Central Asia–China Summit, citing the Akorda press service.

In his opening remarks, the Head of State expressed gratitude to Chinese President Xi Jinping for his strong commitment to comprehensive cooperation with the countries of Central Asia. Tokayev also thanked the leaders of the brotherly Central Asian nations for their active participation and consistent support for regional collaboration.

“Thanks to mutual trust and joint efforts of the countries represented here, Central Asia has developed an unprecedented model of cooperation based on genuine good neighborliness, friendship, and mutual support. In this regard, it is fair to highlight the active and constructive role of China under the leadership of the great statesman President Xi Jinping.

In neighboring China, Kazakhstan has found an eternal and reliable strategic partner, a true friend.

Our region, home to a vast market of 80 million people and rich natural resources, is steadily strengthening its position as an important player in international relations and a hub for trade, investment, and humanitarian cooperation. A key driver in this positive process is the all-encompassing partnership with the People’s Republic of China.

I am pleased to note that relations between Central Asia and China have reached the level of eternal, ‘all-weather,’ and comprehensive strategic partnership,” the President stated.

Tokayev emphasized that the synergy of available opportunities will create a strong foundation for further dynamic and mutually beneficial cooperation with China.

“The combined GDP of Central Asian countries is confidently approaching half a trillion dollars. Over the past five years, intra-regional trade has significantly increased, surpassing $10 billion.

Last year, China accounted for about 40% of the region’s total foreign trade, amounting to a record $95 billion. Kazakhstan made up 46% of that figure, with bilateral trade with China reaching $44 billion.

Chinese investments have become a vital part of Kazakhstan’s economic growth, with total investment exceeding $26 billion.

Today, around 5,000 companies with Chinese capital are operating successfully in Kazakhstan,” Tokayev added.

As a reminder, at the invitation of President Tokayev, President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China arrived in Astana for a two-day state visit.

During the visit, a bilateral high-level meeting is planned, where the parties will discuss ways to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China.

The two leaders have already held talks. President Tokayev emphasized that President Xi is always a highly respected guest on Kazakh soil and that his visit is a clear symbol of the sincere and unwavering friendship between the two nations.
