Tengrinews.kz - Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso, citing the Akorda press service.
The two sides discussed prospects for cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EBRD and exchanged views on current issues in the global economy.
It was noted that significant progress has been achieved over the years of cooperation in a number of strategic sectors, including the development of small and medium-sized businesses, energy, and agriculture.
“The Head of State welcomed the EBRD’s intention to invest in joint projects, including within the framework of the green transition program. Odile Renaud-Basso praised Kazakhstan's investment potential and expressed the bank’s interest in continuing to support the country’s infrastructure development,” the Akorda press service noted.
According to Odile Renaud-Basso, the bank recently approved financing for the reconstruction of a 234-kilometer section of the Aktobe–Ulgaysyn highway, which is important for developing both domestic and international transit routes.
The EBRD President emphasized that cooperation between the bank and Kazakhstan is progressing successfully.
She noted that last year, the volume of investments reached nearly one billion euros, and in 2024, this figure has tripled compared to 2023. In addition, she expressed readiness to continue supporting Kazakhstan in improving transportation accessibility and advancing the energy sector.
Earlier, President Tokayev congratulated judges and court employees on their professional holiday.
