Tengrinews.kz – Several regions of Kazakhstan have been placed under storm warnings as meteorologists predict fog, blizzards, and strong winds.
Authorities have warned of black ice in the southern and mountainous areas of Zhambyl Region, with fog expected in the north and south. In Taraz, fog and icy conditions are expected overnight and in the morning.
In the Jetisu Region, mountainous areas are forecasted to experience fog.
Pavlodar Region will also see fog overnight and in the morning, including in Pavlodar city.
In Astana, ground blizzards, fog, and strong southwesterly winds of up to 15-20 m/s are expected, with gusts reaching higher speeds during the day.
Kostanay Region will face snow, blizzards, and rain-snow mix, as well as black ice and fog in some areas. Winds in the north, west, and east may reach 23-28 m/s. Kostanay city will also experience snow, blizzards, and icy conditions.
In Mangystau Region, the west and north will be affected by fog and icy roads, with wind speeds reaching 15-20 m/s. Aktau is expected to be foggy overnight and in the morning.
East Kazakhstan Region, including Ust-Kamenogorsk, will experience fog overnight and in the morning.
Fog is also expected in the Kyzylorda, Abai, and Karaganda regions, with black ice forecasted in parts of Karaganda Region.
Akmola Region will see blizzards, icy roads, and strong winds of up to 28 m/s. Kokshetau will face icy road conditions in the morning and afternoon.
Ulytau Region and Zhezkazgan will experience fog at times.
North Kazakhstan Region will have snow, blizzards, and icy roads, with winds reaching 23-28 m/s. Petropavlovsk is expected to see mainly snow and blizzards.
West Kazakhstan Region will face snow, icy roads, and blizzards, with fog in Uralsk overnight and in the morning.
In Atyrau Region, meteorologists forecast rain and snow, icy roads, and fog. Atyrau city will also see rain, snow, and black ice overnight and in the morning.
The Turkestan Region will experience snowfall in mountainous areas and fog across western and southern parts. Shymkent and Turkestan are both expected to be foggy overnight.
Aktobe Region will see rain and snow, with blizzards, black ice, and strong winds of up to 20 m/s in some areas. Aktobe city will have snow, rain, and strong winds overnight.
Residents are advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility and hazardous road conditions in affected regions.
