Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan's Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Yerlan Nyssanbayev, has named the regions that failed to meet waste recycling targets.
According to Nyssanbayev, over 4.5 million tons of municipal waste are generated in Kazakhstan annually.
"In 2024, the recycling rate reached 25.8 percent, falling short of the planned 30 percent. Out of 20 regions, seven did not meet their targets," the minister stated.
The regions with the lowest recycling rates include:
- Ulytau – 12%
- Almaty – 7.3%
- Mangystau– 5.5%
- North Kazakhstan – 5%
- Shymkent – 3.5%
Earlier, in Aktau, newly installed underground waste containers collapsed into the ground.
