Tengrinews.kz - The Transport Police Department has shared further details about the crash of a light aircraft near Astana that killed two people.
What happened?
As reported earlier, on June 22, a plane crash occurred near Zholaman Airfield. Two crew members were confirmed dead. A commission will be formed to investigate the incident.
Pre-trial investigation launched
The Transport Police Department clarified that the victims of the crash were the pilot and a passenger.
“A pre-trial investigation has been launched by the Astana station line police under Part 3 of Article 344 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. (...) The causes of the crash are being established,” the department’s press service stated.
Part 3 of Article 344 of the Criminal Code (Violation of safety rules for the operation or use of railway, air, sea, or river transport): an act resulting in the death of two or more people through negligence is punishable by 4 to 10 years of imprisonment, along with possible disqualification from holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to 3 years, or without such disqualification.
