The Head of State laid flowers at the capital’s "Otan Ana" monument in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory and observed a minute of silence in memory of Kazakh soldiers.
The Presidential Orchestra performed the national anthem, and an honor guard company marched in front of the ceremony participants.

Earlier, on May 7, a large-scale military parade was held in Astana to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. President Tokayev, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, watched the procession from the tribune and, in his speech, emphasized the historical significance of the victory, the contribution of Kazakhstanis to the outcome of the war, and the importance of preserving historical truth.
