Tengrinews.kz – On May 9, a drone show will be held in Almaty in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, according to the city akimat.
The light show, featuring over 500 drones, will take place at 9:00 PM on Abay Square.
“In the sky over Almaty, images of legendary heroines Manshuk Mametova and Aliya Moldagulova, as well as Baurzhan Momyshuly, will come to life. Using the latest technology and light animation, they will appear in symbolic scenes that convey their heroism and strength of spirit,” the statement said.
The show will also include cranes as a symbol of remembrance, and will end with the phrase “Zhenis kuni kutty bolsyn!” (“Happy Victory Day!”) displayed against a background of Kazakh ornaments.
Viewing Locations:
- Abay Square;
- The area near Hotel Kazakhstan;
- Near Caspian University;
- Along Abay Avenue from Nazarbayev Avenue to Dostyk Avenue.
Traffic Restrictions
Due to preparations and the event itself, temporary traffic restrictions will be in place in central Almaty on May 9 from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
“Closures will affect Abay Avenue from Nazarbayev to Dostyk, and Dostyk Avenue from Kurmangazy Street to Satpayev Street,” the akimat stated.
Residents and visitors are advised to plan their routes in advance.
