Tengrinews.kz - From April 5, moped drivers in Kazakhstan will bear full liability, the same as drivers of mechanical vehicles, according to new changes in the legislation. This was reported by the Chairman of the Administrative Police Committee, Kaisar Sultanbayev.
Sultanbayev noted that over the 12 months of 2024, 1819 accidents involving mopeds were registered in the republic, which resulted in the death of 76 people and injuries to 1945 people. In the first three months of this year, 103 accidents involving mopeds have already occurred, in which 2 minors died and 105 people were injured.
"If earlier moped drivers were held liable for violating traffic rules under Article 615 of the Code of Administrative Offenses in the amount of 2 MCI, like other road users, then from April 5, a moped driver will bear the full range of liability imposed on drivers of mechanical vehicles," said a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
We remind you that driving mopeds now requires a category A, A1, or B driver's license. Changes have been made to the vehicle registration rules, and at the moment, more than 24 thousand mopeds have been registered, and more than 2 thousand category A and A1 driver's licenses have been issued.
